Rhino Pliers

There are an awesome set of print-in-place pliers capable of producing 3.5kgs of pressure between the pliers jaws. The pliers make use of a clever mechanical linkage that takes the rotational motion from the grips and leverages it to create a stronger bite force at the jaws. The name & shape of the pliers are inspired by the fact that rhino beetles can hold up to 30 times their bodyweight which I have embellished in the design of the linkage and the pliers.

These pliers also come embossed with 2 rulers (In, Cm) and a what was supposed to be print in place spirit level (I can never quite get it to work).

 

Print recommendations

----------------------------

[Infill]: Recommended at 25% for all parts. By setting the infill of only the middle bracket to 20% you can get the filament usage down below or at 25g (minus supports) with minor sacrifices to strength.

[Supports]: Snug supports are best, There are a few in tricky spots but using a pair needle-nose pliers it should only take 5 mins.

Expect the pliers to be gummed up at first but with a bit of forced movement the mechanism should smooth out

[Filament]: Pliers printed & tested on normal PLA

[Nozzle Size]: 0.4mm
