This only works on the Baby Ape Pro V2

(As far as I know, that is the only I've tested it on)

I got annoyed of the really poor quality linear VTX antenna, and then got annoyed again when my RHCP U.FL antenna ripped the pad. After the first repair, I decided I didn't want to deal with it any more and designed this to allow for ANY SMA antenna to connect.

NOTES:

  • This isn't an easy upgrade, and will require bending (and potentially breaking), some components. Make sure you are fine with potentially re-soldering broken components.
  • The mod will make the back end of the drone heavier since the antenna is heavier and further out.
  • The tail was designed for use with the ELRS receiver that comes with the drone.
  • You will need 2.5 inch UF.L to SMA cable. I purchased a pack of five on Amazon. You can use longer ones (not shorter) but you will have to manage the extra length your self.
  • The 2.5 inch UF.L to SMA cable is just long enough, any more strain might cause either the UF.L port or the cable to break, make sure to take care while installing.
  • I am not responsible if you break your drone.
  • The STEP file is attached if you want to future tweak the model your self.

HOW-TO:

  1. Unscrew and disassemble the top and bottom half of the drone.
  2. Unplug the current antenna from the VTX
  3. Unscrew the VTX, flip it 180 degrees (such that the UF.L connector should now be near the camera) and screw it back in.
  4. Carefully push the smoothing capacitor connected to the flight controller in and to the side, such that it won't interfere with the coax cable. Be very careful, it is easy to break the leads on this.
  5. Insert and screw the SMA to UF.L cable into the tail.
  6. Insert the ELRS module and feed its antenna through the back slot.
  7. Reassemble the drone, taking are to make sure the smoothing capacitor isn't in the way (I had to bed mine due to it pushing too much on the ELRS module).
  8. Have fun flying!
