This was another design request from my wife as she recently picked up an IKEA SKADIS and it was my job to mount it to the wall in her office. We rent and so I don't really want to drill big holes in the wall for drywall anchors. So I got to designing something that could be used with 3M command strips. We like the “velcro” style strips, so this design is based around those dimensions.
I saw similar designs floating around but I didn't like that they either just used hooks to hang the board or had exposed bolt heads. I wanted something secure and maintained the aesthetic of the included mounting hardware. When I discovered that the included hardware used M4 screws I knew exactly what I was going to do.
I have included only a single model here, but I recommend mirroring it to maintain the bolt pocket towards the inside of the board.
This model is approximately the same depth as the “feet” included with the SKADIS which are meant to be mounted to the bottom and rest against the wall so that you can use only 2 if you wish. However, I used one of my model in each corner for maximum security.
Hardware Needed:
4 x of the included mounting screws that come with the SKADIS
4 x M4 bolts
Printing:
Orient the print with the angled side touching the build plate to avoid needing supports.
I also recommend 6 walls minimum so that the “pegs” are solid.
ENJOY!
