Printing Instructions:

Printing the utility carabiner is straightforward and does not require any special configurations. Use standard 3D printing profiles for optimal results.

Layer height: 0.2 mm (0.15 mm recommended for detail)

Infill: 100% for maximum strength

Material: PLA or PETG (for added flexibility)

As you scale the model larger, it’s recommended to increase the number of perimeters to maintain a balance between rigidity and flexibility. PETG is preferred for larger prints as it remains more flexible compared to PLA.

Tool Objective:

The objective is simple: provide a secure and versatile clip for everyday use. The pre-tensioned mechanism ensures the carabiner stays closed, while the dual safety notches prevent unintended lateral openings and deformation under load. The carabiner is designed to be printed at 100% infill for maximum durability and can be scaled up to 150% without compromising its functionality. By adjusting the number of perimeters, you can customize the flexibility and rigidity to suit your needs. Tests have shown that the static breaking load for the model scaled to 150% is 24 Kgf or 235 N.
