I liked the concept behind Adafruit's Swirly Mounting Grid but wanted something to suit my needs better. Particularly, I have a growing number of development boards on shelf used for our companies hardware in the loop testing (HIL) and want a cleaner way to organize them. Here are some of the key design goals:

  • Panelized so they can create larger grids
  • Use metric mounting hardware (my default is M3)
  • Easily 3D printed or laser cut

I designed these panels in Onshape for easy iteration and sharing. It's fully parameterized so different units (x by y) can be set and different hole diameters can be configured. It's currently defaulting to an M3 bolt, with a 3.4mm clearance.

Two design features that make these panels are the registration tabs and L-shaped connectors. I don't love the design and may try different connector designs.
