The DJI Avata 2 is the ideal drone for exploring unknown terrain or lost places. But it is lacking light sources both for its Visual Positioning System as well as for the main camera. There are some commercial solutions available, but all far above 100$ and that is too much in my eyes. So I looked for a matching light source and designed a matching clip-on mount for it.
On Amazon I found the STARTRC Strobe Drone Light and ordered two of them. There are other similar light sources on the market which might fit as well.
Test flight in my basement at total darkness went well. VPS worked normally although I got a low light warning.
But for minimising risk in case VPS will fail and the Avata 2 will fall into Atti mode, you should fly using the RC3 controller instead of the Motion Controller.
For printing I used PETG, but PC or ASA will work as well. Don't use PLA as this might deform when heating up and unplug from the drone.
Update from 01-02-25:
I have refined the design a bit for improved stability, changed the infill to 100% and changed to PETG instead of PC. Total weight with both lights is 29 grams.
