With this coin counting machine you can count your coin jars in no time. The sorting is done by the size of the coins. I designed the ejection chute for euro coins (10c, 20c, 50c, 1E, 2E) and for dollar coins (dime, cent, nickel, quarter, dollar). Unfortunately, due to the lack of dollar coins, I could not test it. A motor driven disc transports the coins into the ejection channels. When they fall in, they are detected by an infrared sensor. The evaluation is done by an Arduino. The counting process looks relatively simple. But there are some things to consider to get a clean counting process. An important parameter is the angle of the base plate. This was determined empirically by me. Another important factor are the recesses in the turntable. These must have the correct shape to transport the coins into the ejection channels. Other points are the speed of the turntable and the number of coins in the turntable. Since the infrared sensors react to ambient light, it is important to operate the machine in constant light conditions.
