I loved Hana's design. it's very elegant. Unfortunately Czech spice jars are much bigger than the ones we use in Australia.

Being smaller jars, I don't think we need the middle support and I reckon we could get away with 6mm dowels. Using a single dowel size is easier to shop for and reduce waste.

My Spice Rack

I bought 1* 8mm x 2.4m & 1* 6mm x 2.4m dowels, cut them into 400mm pieces to create 3 racks.

They hold 9 jars with room leftover. The bracket will take up to 10mm of dowel. So for a perfectly snug fit you would want to cut your dowels at 380mm

Improvements

After mounting my first design, I thought I'd make a couple of improvements and share them to the community.

  1. Changed the 6mm dowel hole from 6.4mm to 6.2mm
  2. Increased the height of both rails slightly for more stability. Hopefully leaving enough gap to read the labels on each jar.
  3. Created a middle support piece
  4. Created a 6mm only version

These have not been printed, and at this stage I don't think I need another rack.

I would suggest printing the 6mm version, let me know how it goes. If you don't want to be a guinea pig then choose the ‘printed’ version

This was made in onshape if you want to edit it.
