I love the Fractal Design Mood, but I hate the PSU placement. It takes hot air from the GPU then blows it into a solid wall. With the top SSD mount it makes the airflow even worse.

This mod moves the PSU to the right side of the case with the exhaust pointing up to the 180mm fan. It mounts to the top 140mm bracket with a lip on the other side that rests on the top of the metal divider wall. I left enough room for the right side SSD mount which adds some space for cable management as well. It does block the other two original SSD trays so I've included a version that has a SSD mount and a PSU to SSD adapter so three SSDs can still be installed.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Please use something more temperature-resistant than PLA since it can potentially warp with PC temps. I used PLA cause I live life on the edge (it was all I had) and it's holding up ok, but it's probably not a good idea.
  • SFX-L might fit but I don't have one and can't know for sure. I have about 30-32mm of space between the PSU and my motherboard, so the extra 25mm required for an SFX-L PSU should fit, but that leads me to the next point.
  • PLEASE CHECK CABLE PATHS FIRST! There is only 30mm of space between the back of my normal SFX PSU which was enough for the cables I needed, but your mileage may vary.
  • The PSU to SSD bracket uses self-tapping fan screws instead of the normal screws for the PSU. They're a little tight in the metal bracket, but it worked for me.
  • I installed the PSU on the fan bracket outside of the case and it required some trickery to get back in. I didn't have to bend anything, but it might work better if you don't remove the front fan bracket.
  • You will probably need to cut one of the zip ties managing the case's power cable. I cut it while I was working on early versions of this adapter so it might not be necessary, but imo keeping the cable inside the frame is a better route so it's worth it.

This is also my first publicly posted design so lmk if I should include any additional info, thanks!
