Description

PDF

This is Clarus the dogcow, the iconic Apple Macintosh icon. It notably appeared in the classic Macintosh print dialog after being born as a glyph in Susan Kare's Cairo bitmap font in 1984.

While geometrically accurate, each individual pixel was scaled up 20% to create a 1mm overlap between each (at 100%) in order to achieve this free-standing and self-supporting shape.

Print instructions:

  • Orientation: as per STL (flat, snout pointing left)
  • Infill: 15%, but can go pretty high.
  • Material: PLA

Photos shown are of a 85% scaled down print to fit on my Original Prusa MINI bed.

Changelog

  • 2022-01-03: Added new optional ‘shoes' to make Clarus more stable while standing.
    • Added Clarus with shoes.stl
    • Added Clarus with shoes_0.25mm_slow1stlayer_ironing_PLA_MINI_4h19m.gcode
