As of July 5, 2024 the official GCODE for printing the MMU3 printable parts is done with the Print settings configured for ‘SPEED’ rather than ‘QUALITY’ and makers (myself included) have reported problems using the provided file. This page provides a set of unofficial, alternative GCODE files built for the MK4 in PrusaSlicer 2.8.0, using the ‘Quality’ Print settings.
Additionally, the process for building the MMU3 does not include separate steps for printing necessary parts, or summarize the time/effort this process will take. I made this document because I needed to and because I love you. You'll probably want between 1 and 8 additional packs of gummy bears for this.
When the official GCODE has been updated/fixed, and an intelligible process document has been written for printing them, I can take this down. PRUSA makes the best process documentation I've ever read, and I'm sure it will fully replace anything I can produce here.
If you are thinking about purchasing the MMU3, and you're wondering if it's worth $30 to get the parts printed, OR if you should print them yourself with the 3D printer you already own, in my opinion, it's absolutely worth $30 to have them printed for you.
The MMU3 is shipped with 800g PETG Prusament so fool-hardy makers can print a bunch of the parts themselves. This filament is provided in 1 400g spool loose in the box, and 1 400g spool in the Fasteners box. To fully assemble the MMU3, 8 print jobs must be successfully completed with an estimated print time of almost 48 hours.
| Included .gcode files use UNMODIFIED Prusaslicer settings for the MK4 printing PETG Prusament. If you are having problems with a clean first layer, be sure to go through the drying process. Make sure your print nozzle is clean (PETG is sticky) and try reducing the live print speed to 90%. |
Assembly of the Spool Holders does not require any printed parts. You can complete section 8 of the MMU build Guide.
Modification of the Nextruder requires the replacement of parts with new ones provided in the MMU3 kit.
