Hello.

Between my friends, family, and I, along with many people in the world, 2021 has been a ‘Dumpster Fire of a Year’.

I did become a dad for the first time this year, but that is pretty much the highlight of my year, when the following has occurred in this time around the sun; multiple Covid-19 Lockdowns here in Sydney, Australia, being trapped in a hospital during my son's birth due to floods for more than 2 weeks, my father dying of cancer, my partner being fired a day away from maternity leave and more.

I could write a book on what has gone wrong this year for myself, my family, my friends and acquaintances. We all have had a bad year.

SOOO…..I decided to celebrate the end of 2021 with a festive dumpster fire ornament!

I designed this the other day and posted it up on my local community group page and I cannot keep up with requests, especially since I only have one Prusa Mk3S+, and I only have PETG filament for my Ultimaker.

I thought why not spread the cheer for a new year and share my design.

3D printed in PLA+ (my recommendation), you can print this model bigger in scale and the parts will snap in securely, but I would not recommend printing this model at a smaller scale, I wouldn't go lower than 80%, as I have tested this, and the snap in place locking mechanisms and their tolerances can become an issue, mainly for the wheels parts.

I personally have run out of transparent red, yellow and orange, but that would look great for the flames.

It has been designed, so that once the parts are all printed, the inner flame slides into the main flame, then that sub-assembly snaps into the dumpster. The wheels then get snapped into place in the bottom of the dumpster. The only thing that needs to be glued on this model is the ‘2021’ numbers at the front with a little bit of super glue behind each letter. ONCE THE PARTS ARE SNAPPED INTO PLACE, YOU CANNOT TAKE THEM BACK OUT, so PLEASE be careful, and dont forget the inner flame.

Top it off with a little bit of string of lace through the hole in the flame, so that you can hang it on the tree, but the hole is large enough to accommodate some Christmas tree branches. The ornament can also sit on a hall table or on a work desk. Even a christmas gift idea, bring it on christmas day, or on New Year's eve.

I hope yous all have a better 2022, I know I am hoping for everyone’s’ year to come is a great one.

Enjoy
