Vallhorn Penguin Motion Sensor Cover

The Vallhorn Penguin 

is a cute penguin cover for the IKEA VALLHORN motion sensor.

I wanted to improve the wife-approval-factor by integrating smart home sensors into your home decor.

it worked !

It is a snap-into-place model. I designed to body with front facing holes to attach, the face, beak and feet after printing. The sensor loosely sits in the cover.

– How I printed –

 
The 3mf file has 3 plates for printing the colors separate.

I used black, white and orange Bambulab PLA on my P1S
0.4 mm nozzle
0.2 mm layer height
auto brim on beak
no support
fuzzy skin on the outside of the black body piece

– Assembly – 

All pieces were assemble after printing. It's not optimized multi-color printing, but could be done.

The attachment pieces can be modified to change the mood or foot wear. I used 1.2 mm long circular standoffs with a diameter of 2.5 mm.
