A vertical solder reel holder for desktop use. It has a guide and a spool lock to prevent unwinding while being moved about.
There is an M6 thread in the guide arm for a strengthening bar, and an M12 thread in the main spindle for either a strengthening bar or to stack multiple holders for minimum desk space usage.
We printed these items to solve issues with 2 part horizontal solder reel holders losing the reel when moved, and also unwinding the solder if transpoerted in a tool box. We like them and hope you find them useful.
It is recommended that the locking washer sits on top of the reel for best use.
If your reels of solder are smaller, I've added a file to print more washers to accomodate them
It is recommended to print at 100% infill for strength as this is a functional part subject to wear and tear.
I strongly recommend inserting the strengthening threaded bars if it is to be used for mobile use.
I have made various successful prints on a farm of Prusa i3 MK3s printers with both PETG and PLA. No special unusual processes are needed and no supports required.
If printed with 15% infill the thread on the knob is prone to shear off if force is used to tighten, we don't recommend such low strength settings.
