Description

This Swirl Lamp takes inspiration from the design of the Dollop Lamp, featuring an elongated shade that seems to float on an elegant, minimal tripod base. It is designed in two parts, allowing for easy bulb replacement by twisting and removing the shade from the base.

The Swirl Lamp is thoughtfully designed to utilize common parts for easy repairs, upgrades, or reuse to minimize waste. Thank you for supporting sustainable design!

There are two versions for E26 or E27 pendant fixtures:

  1. Threaded fixture (40mm OD), a popular option for DIY lamps
  2. Smooth-walled fixture (37mm OD), such as JACKYLED 12ft pendant light (featured in the photos)

πŸ’Ž Features:

  1. Designed in two parts, you can easily twist to remove the shade to install the light fixture or change the bulb.
  2. Two variants for popular pendant light fixtures: threaded and smooth-walled fixtures.
  3. The lamp shade is designed to print with a single wall using spiral vase mode.
  4. The lamp tripod base is assembled from multiple smaller parts and printed using your preferred standard profile without supports.
  5. The base optionally includes 3 pads for TPU feet.
  6. Includes 3MF + STL files and print instructions with photos.
  7. Easy to slice using PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, or Bambu Studio.
  8. Requires a minimum bed size of 180mm x180mm x205mm.

πŸ’‘Recommendations:

  1. Use 9-watt LED bulbs. LED bulbs are recommended as traditional bulbs get too hot.
  2. I recommend using a 0.6mm nozzle to strengthen the shade, but a 0.4mm nozzle also works.
  3. I recommend using the 3mf files, which include the negative volumes.
  4. I recommend not scaling the parts due to the required tolerances to secure the shade, base, and light fixture.

πŸ“– Instructions:

  1. Shade: Print using spiral vase mode. The shade requires a negative volume to generate registration fingers to attach to the base. The negative volume is configured in the 3mf file.
  2. Threaded Fixture: Print without supports using your preferred settings.
  3. Smooth-Walled Fixture: Requires a threaded collar to tighten the base around the fixture. A secure fit requires a tight tolerance.
    1. Print without supports using your preferred settings.
    2. Insert the smooth-walled fixture so that it extends 2 - 5mm (1/8 - 1/4in) above the base (as shown in the photos)
    3. Thread on the collar until tight. The collar is tight if the fixture remains secure when screwing in the light bulb.
  4. TPU feet, Optional: Print in TPU to protect your surfaces and add grip.
    1. To insert the feet into the base, align the foot, then press the base and foot against a tabletop.
