This model is designed to print and then assemble with almost no supports (organic recommended). PETG is the ideal material for this, and I found that black JB Weld Plastic Bonder epoxy (in the US) works well for gluing the pieces together (it's a two-part, low viscosity urethane-based adhesive, so similar products may be available in your part of the world).
The photos show the cup, tray and phone holder sections assembled, with the rear phone side spacer (the thickest spacer) visible below the tray to the left of the phone holder. This is designed for a LH drive car, but if you're in the UK, Japan or other RH side drive country, this might work by just attaching the phone holder on the left side … if the LH/RH drive consoles are symmetric.
If your Crosstrek has heated seats and/or X-Track, the tray will block the buttons for those controls. Looking at it from the bright side, the tray will also prevent accidental activation of those controls.
Glue sequence and instructions:
- Spread a thin layer of glue along the inside of the semicircle part of the tray. Glue the tray to the cup, using the ledge on the cup as a guide. Spring clips (like those used to hold papers together) work well for holding the tray and cup together while the glue cures. Clean up any glue that affects the appearance of the assembly before it dries.
- Once the glue is cured from [1], fit the cup/tray assembly into the car and note where you want to put the spacers and phone holder. The shortest spacer is intended for the rear side of the tray next to the emergency brake, while the other two spacers are intended for the side next to the passenger. The phone holder is intended to fit between the tray and passenger seat.
- Place a thin line of glue in the groove on the phone holder where it clips to the tray. Turn the cup/tray assembly upside down and press the phone holder over the tray edge, taking care to keep left/right in mind with the tray flipped. Clean up any cosmetic glue oozes.
- Immediately place thin layers of glue on the spacers and place them on the upturned cup/tray assembly, taking care to keep left/right in mind. Clean up any cosmetic glue oozes.
- Once glue is cured from [3] and [4], the assembly is ready for use.
