I created this foldable/collapsible traffic cone (pylon) for our van life, we have little space to put everything in our small VW van so a traffic cone of normal size will not be suitable.
This is why i recreated a traffic cone which has the ability to fit in my van.
Is has the size of 175x175x89mm (6.9"x6.9"x3.5") and when erect the size will be 175x175x402mm (6.9"x6.9"x15.8")
On top I created the place for a sign which you can recreate in the PrusaSlicer with your own custom textsThis model i very good for printing in different colors so it will look like the traffic cone of your liking :-) or like what is visible the most (orange and white)
When assembled, you turn the cone upside down and it will collapse, then turn some more to lock it in this state.
When it is time to leave then turn the lock of and the cone will collapse to the small part
I have printed all in Prusament PETG 0.2 layer height
!When you need only a collapsible traffic Cone; don't print the sign! :-)
When printed all parts:
Hold the square base in your hand and place the BaseRing from below through the round hole, make sure the bulges of the ring fall into the openings of the square base and gently rotate the ring to the closed position, look carefully at the underside to make sure they are flush on all 3 threaded parts [see also sheet 2/2] before pushing it in locked position. The ring will click into the BaseSquare and will not come off easily.
Now insert the largest cone(E) through the base and attach it using the same procedure: make sure that the bulges of the cone(E) fall into the openings of the base ring and carefully turn the cone(E) to the closed position, check the underside to make sure that they are flush on all 3 threads before pushing it through.
Now insert the next rings into the cone(E), again note the recesses. Most convenient is to hold the composite cone upside down so that the cone rings sink into place by gravity. Turning the smallest cone(A) will turn all the others into the slot as well.
When you can straighten the cone in the closed position, it's time to do the final step.
Careful:
!if you put next step before all the rings, than it can be difficult to release the BaseBase ring!
Place the BaseBase from the bottom against the biggest cone ring and turn it so that it too falls into the lock, now when you set up the traffic pylon straight and unscrew it in the opposite direction the rings will drop by gravity to the base and you will have your collapsed pylon. see for assembly also third picture below.
For the sign that will be on top of the cone, we push the TPiece through the top of the opening of cone(A). This will also be locked in the cone(A). In this T-piece you can now slide the SignCoupler attached to the Sign.
Sign with own text, 2 x 2 edge printing and two signs with own text (to make with Prusa Slicer) sign present as step file for other options to create signs.
The Sign borders can be snapped together like in the next picture and then folded around the SignTxt plates (2pieces for two sided texts) and coupled with the SignCoupler.
