I am making electronics since years.. but never had a wiring pen (because the one you can buy are quite expensive for a piece of plastic).
I have seen other designs in the internet but i made my own as you can see. But you can take a look here for other versions of a selfmade wiring pen: http://www.instructables.com/id/Wiring-Pen/ http://www.vk2zay.net/article/208
I used the first time a wiring pencil and don't know why i used it in the past. It is a very useful tool when making prototypes on stripboard. It speeds up the soldering very much.
The design is made to fit different normal pen with different diameters. The pencil i used here hast a diameter of 10mm at his end but there is a little space left.
Also its my first design made with tinkercad: https://tinkercad.com/things/8cJFuIqMTbA https://tinkercad.com/things/09uVoq5sOZn https://tinkercad.com/things/iF4llk7EkKT

**Resolution:**

Notes:
I printed with ABS. But is think PLA would have been better because its more solid.
Build it together
Print 1x spool tube, 1x pen closure, 2x sidearms. Find a pen which fits to the pen closure.
You need 4 screws like M4 to assemble everything. A spool with your favorite cooper wire. I glued the pen closure on the pen.
I also put a medic needle (hollow needle) at the end. With a little bit of shrinking tube I fix the the needle on the pen. And that's it!
Keep soldering :-)
