Shade-Aide is a suite of parts that enable a variety of shade awnings to be constructed. The PoleTop thing is designed to be mounted on a length 3/4" schedule 40 PVC pipe (26.8mm O.D.), and clipped to an old sheet or other thin fabric to create a shady awning. Paracord (1/8"-3mm) is used for guy lines and a tensioner is included. For applications not requiring attachment to a pole, use the "puck" (which prints faster than the PoleTop.) This thing is my entry to a contest being run by ELEGOO and ALL3DP with the theme of "Summer Necessities" (#ELEGOO3DPSummer).

The Story
I'd originally intended to erect some kind of awning on a local beach, but since this is nesting season for the Leatherback turtle, driving stakes into the sand is frowned upon. So the best I could do was set something up in my scruffy back yard. I initially tried to use a Mylar emergency blanket as the fabric portion of the awning, but that was an abject failure; ripping in the slightest wind. So I wound up using an old sheet which was a great improvement. One recommendation: sand the bearing surfaces of the PoleTop, Puck and Snubber so there are no rough spots that might chafe on the fabric. Anyway, it appears there are lots of ways to construct a temporary awning to keep you cool.
