Sandbed Skimmer Inlet for Canister filter

I solved a very niche problem for myself, maybe someone else might profit from it.

I needed an inlet basket for my reef tank. I had to design something that would skim the sandbed but not suction the sand into the filter.

I printed it in ABS with 20% infill and organic supports on the printbed. Bear in mind that it will be buoyant with that amount of infill, so adjust it if you need it to sink.

The inlet is openable, so it can also be filled with polyfill and be used as a pre-filter.

The openscad file is provided so you can adapt it to your own canister filter.
