Update: Added Pipe Parts – you can now print your own pipe if needed.

Problem

The AMS has some desiccant compartment, and a lot of people use additional desiccant holder inside the AMS. Most of them cannot be accessed when the spools are inside. As I am a lazy person, removing all spools just for desiccant exchange is not an option.

Solution

Therefore I designed this part that allows in combination with some kind of plastic pipe to lift all spools up enough to access and exchange the desiccant holder.

Designed for pipe diameter < 25 mm, also works with lid raiser (I have one too). Sits on the open AMS.

Printing

The side part is straight forward.

The pipe needs to be printed with the flat side on the bed, to have enough strength. My wall settings were such the pipe wall has no infill but is 100%, I printed it in PLA and it seems to hold. The small connector part of the pipe needs support, but that should be not a problem.

Application
  1. Print 2 of those side parts, and the pipe parts if needed.
  2. Open the AMS and put the plastic pipe through all spools (in the center). (Foto 3)
  3. Attach the side parts (one on the left hand side and one the right hand side) onto the pipe. (Foto 4)
  4. Lift the whole assembly (left part, right part and pipe with spools) and put it in the rim where the AMS Lid normally would fit into. Adjust the whole thing such that it stands reliable. (Foto 1 + Foto 5)
