Russel's  work, exemplified by the "Apparatus for Transtemporal Occurrence of Impending Space," fuses steampunk and dieselpunk aesthetics. His interactive installations blend historical elements with futuristic designs, creating imagined histories and speculative futures.

This interior sculpture, part of a public art installation in Melbourne, Australia, features a sterling silver dieselpunk aircraft. Attached to an electric motor, the aircraft moves and the sculpture lights up when a generator is wound. Supercapacitors keep it powered for a short time after the handle stops rotating, adding dynamic motion and light to the piece.
