I've been using more and more Heatset inserts in my projects recently and have been wanting to build one of the many soldering iron press designs that are out there on Printables, but couldn't decide on which one would be perfect for me. So, I decided to make my own.
This is my first time making an Instructional PDF and Video, so please do give me constructive criticism!
This should hold soldering irons up to 22mm in Diameter. I have included STEP files of everything so changes should be easy to make if you have a different style of soldering iron. Remixes Encouraged!
The platform is meant to be removable and modifiable with fixturing and jigs, allowing for easy repeatability if you have to do a large batch of inserts on multiple of the same part. I have included an example platform that accepts the Stem component of this project.
The cable guide is optional and slides into the gaps in the stems. I found some weights needed it, specifically the included basket, but some weights didn't get in the way
The weight basket is also optional, you can tie on anything that has the same/similar weight to the carriage as well as soldering iron. This allows the soldering iron to “hover” in place if the weight is matched well enough.
Print Settings are in the caption of each STL.
Instructions are in the attached PDF, and available in a video format Soon TM
Thank GPT for the name of the project :)
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
