Kubic - An ITX PC Case that looks like a cube

Kubic is an ITX PC Case that's fully printable on a smaller printer, such as a Prusa MINI or a Bambu A1 Mini.

What's the mainboard and gpu max size?

Don't think a tesla p100 thats about 23cm long is going to fit ;-)

Привет. Понравился проект хочу его напечатать для моего ИИ компьютера
. (edited)

Followed the creator's advice on color scheme, quite pleased with the result. The feet failed once but otherwise everything went OK. The 3mf loads in anycubic slicer but it sets brims to "auto", so all of the long pieces have them. If I had to do it again I'd try without since they're a pain to clean up and I did a pretty poor job.

Only thing I'd suggest changing is adding a relief at the back of the 3mm holes on the panels, as these inserts tended to "mushroom" a bit, unlike the 4 and 5mm ones. This causes the panels to sit a bit proud, I'll clean it up with a knife later maybe. Oddly this only happened on the short stubby ones, not the long ones that spanned the whole beam. Unsure why.

I didn't think I'd care for the handle and almost didn't print it, but after using it I wish every ITX case had one, super convenient. (edited)

Everything fits together really well! Sick case.

Thanks for the great print!

@TwoDollar45_2472561 Great build ! Love the "pure white" theme, looks great next to that Nintendo Switch OLED Dock ! Thank you for your comment :)

Great work! 👍I really like this project and _so_ want to print a Kubic myself!Question: are we allowed to design custom front panels? If so, can you please share an "editable" 3D model of the front panel that can be customized in Fusion 360?

@DoofusMcDing_2348857 Sorry for the late reply ! I don't know why I didn't see it earlier ... You can absolutely edit custom panels. In fact I encourage you to do so, and I'm quite curious to see what people will come up with.

Right now I don't have a STEP for a "blank" panel on hand but it's a nice idea, actually. I'm about to post a couple of updates to the case (time to validate they're working OK, I've been a little short on time lately), I could add such a model to the mix.

In the mean time, you can go and export the OnShape project, which is public, if you're feeling up to it. I tried to make it as easily readable and editable as possible.

Here's the link : https://cad.onshape.com/documents/5999a8226244c031f7e5c6d4/w/47b2379574c4603b98f3a0d0/e/1b093738a8ee637d58c8d5b3?configuration=List_rUend6h0W7pLCe%3DTwoAndHalfSlot&renderMode=0&uiState=670ff853cf2be37bf2a59ba9

No worries, and thank for your answer. I'd love to design a custom front panel. I'm in no hurry since I'm in the process of replacing my old Ender 3 Pro with a Bambu A1 (Mini). Also, I'm waiting for the case accessories the build needs. For these reasons, it's a perfect time to know that you are planning a few updates to the Kubic! Would you mind giving a teaser or two?

Regarding a "blank" panel, I understand it adds another layer of commitment to the project. However, if you feel it's worthwhile, then please consider adding a template file for budding Kubic users to use. In the meantime, that OnShape project seems like a great start - thanks!

By the way - this project, your photos and everyone elses' results really get my 3D printing fingers itching! I can't wait to get started, and I can't wait to post the results here for you and everyone else to see - hoping I'll be able to up the game, so to speak! 👍

Decided to burn up some filament that was aging. I like the randomness. Thank you for this design, I don't have a need for another PC but figure I'll make a ip camera box with plex lol.

@RichardMyers_560712 That's a real nice and funny print, it looks almost spray painted. Thank you for sharing this, and feel free to use it however you like, it's always nice to see what other people come up with !

@WhoIsLudwig_273013 Thanks, I finally populated it and it will be replacing my blue iris setup and plex machine. Pulls only 27 watts down from my main server idling at 251. This was a fun project, thank you for the hard work.

I'm in love with this little case, and I'm working on printing mine now! Would it be possible to get a Right Panel variant that can house a 3.5in HDD? I think this will make a great little media center.

@MrQuallzin That's funny that I didn't think about 3.5 inches drives TBH. I'll look into this whenever I can find a little time, since it can prove quite useful ! Thanks for the suggestion.

Definitely a case I will build.

But let me make some suggestions.
- use some kind of marking options like embossed text to identify the various parts.
- consider to put a fan on front side. Front panel can have mesh design for airflow
- a stackable second part for HDD and you would have perfect NAS solution too.

Have less CAD skills therefore I really appreciate your work and sharing it with us

@RaYa_56968 thank you very much for those suggestions ! I will definitely think about it. The meshed front panel is a good idea for extra airflow. I was thinking about creating different panel designs to choose from, so this might be a nice option.

About embossing, this is something that I had planned initially, but turned out I was too lazy to do it ... Though, I must admit that marking the parts makes the build quite easier, and the sticky notes are not the most elegant solution ...

And for the NAS add-on, that's something I didn't think about, but it's an interesting design idea. Comes with a few challenges, about cooling, connections, space management, drives bracketing, ... This is a whole project in itself, but it is interesting. I was also thinking about a "pizza box" style case, based on an APU setup, which could also be a good match for a NAS, since you don't need a discreet GPU for that.

Thanks again for your feedback ! I really appreciate it.

94c for the CPU is at the throttle temp for most CPUs. You lose performance at that point. Even if it's stable under load.

@Retr0vers3_149133 94°c was an absolute worst case scenario I obtained by constantly putting maximum stress on both CPU and GPU at the same time for several hours. (thanks to a combination of CPU-Z and Furmark)

On normal gaming conditions, I never get past 85°c for the CPU and 75 for the GPU, even with big AAA games on longer playing sessions. Also, I'm using a standard AMD cooler. You might be able to improve performance by using a better CPU cooler, considering you have about 100mm of clearance between the CPU and the PSU.
