xTool 2W Infrared Laser Module Storage Box

I designed this printable storage box specifically to store the xTool Infrared Laser Module from my D1 Pro laser engraver.  I used the foam from the xTool original shipping box to line the inner walls of my printed box. This was designed in Alibre Atom3d cad software.

Printing

Top and Bottom case parts

  • PETG for strength and flexibility.
  • 4 walls
  • 0.3mm layer height
  • 20% infill
  • Supports required. Use SNUG support type supports.

Latches x4

  • TPU filament
  • 2 walls for flexibility
  • 10% infill
  • supports required. Use DEFAULT type supports. 
  • print with the flat side down on the bed

Extra Parts

  • 4x  #6  1.5" (30mm) long round cap machine screws
  • 4x  #6  nuts
  • foam to make inside padding
  • foam safe glue (eg: Gorilla Clue)

Steps

  • Print the PETG box parts
  • Print the TPU latches x4
  • cut the foam to cover the bottom of the box
  • cut the foam to fill the inside of the cover
  • cut long strips of foam for the sides of the bottom of the box
  • cut short squares to fill the ends of the bottom of the box
  • use the foam safe glue to glue all of the foam inside the bottom of the box
  • once dry, trim a cutout in one end to allow the laser lens to be free from the foam
  • Install the latches using the 4 #6 machine bolts/screws
