I'm a huge fan of the BigBricks designs created by Jacob Hardwell. After making the Scout Trooper model, I wanted to create a speeder bike to display him with. I found a set on the Lego website that did not look too complicated which became the inspiration for this work. The instructions for this can be downloaded from lego here.
All of the major bricks needed to create this were available on Printables.com thanks to the awesome work of thall72. They just needed to be scaled up to work with the BigBricks designs.
While making this, I discovered that the holes on the back of the legs of the BigBricks designs were not spaced evenly, which meant that it would not be possible to snap the figure onto the vehicle in a seated position. To get around this, I created a custom 2x2 “seat” adapter brick with the studs placed such that the BigBricks figure could be attached to this brick and then this brick could be attached to the vehicle. (You can see this in the side view image I posted. There's a 2x6 plate at the bottom of the model and then three 2x2 plates sitting on top of the 2x6. the 2x2 in the middle is the adapter.)
If you decide to print this, I would love to see it. Please post pics of your makes, and I'd really appreciate it if you could like this design by clicking the "like" link above.
Lastly, I'd like to say thank you so much to Jacob and thall72 for all the amazing work done that made this design possible!! You guys rock!!!
UPDATE 6-26-24: Check out this cool stop frame animation video from Mathew Roth. Thanks for sharing this!
The author remixed this model.
A subset of the models published by Thall72 were organized and scaled up to build a speeder bike that can be used with the BigBricks models created by Jacob Cardwell.
