AntBox
After looking around for an option to store multiple queen ants in test tube founding setups, horizontally, and in the dark, but not finding anything that fully fit the bill, I decided to try my hand at some basic modeling.
Latest Iteration
AntBox 1.3
- Stackable - The bottom of the model matches the dimensions of AntBox Cover 1.3 (2mm smaller than the top of AntBox)
- Vented Front face - added ventilation to the front face to eliminate the need for a vented Cover, and allow multiple boxes to be stacked
AntBox Cover 1.3
- Simplified - Removed redundant ventilation
- Reduced - Brought back down to intended height
- Taller Handle - easier to grab than 1.0
Old Versions
AntBox Cover 1.2
- Vented cover - holes spaced farther apart than AntBox Cover 1.0
- Simplified - Removed small overhang around outer edge meant to match up with outer edge of AntBox
- Taller handle - easier to grab than 1.0
- Taller overall? - Somehow gained additional unintended height over AntBox Cover 1.0?
AntBox Cover 1.0
- Vented cover - holes somewhat overcrowded, small space between proved somewhat difficult to print. (with my current printing skill level at least)
- Shorter handle - was more troublesome to grab than anticipated
- Slight overhang - meant to match up with the outer edge of AntBox for a cleaner look, (deemed unnecessary, in favor of a simpler print)
AntBox 1.0
- Basic box - it holds 8 test tubes
- Doesn't stack - Straight outer walls, does not fit into itself
- Un-Vented - Relies on vented cover
