MK3 name tags are directly compatible with this MK4 insert.

Information

This name tag is inserted into the left Z axis cover, which has been modified and will need to be replaced. The name tag itself is removable, and is customizable to your liking. Due to the X axis, the replacement Z cover does not increase the printer's footprint, while remaining out of the way of the extruder assembly. This design has been installed on a MK4 without effect on the printer's reliability.

Printing & Installation

Text can be added to the name plate directly in PrusaSlicer. When customizing further in other 3D software, caution is advised. If the size of the name plate is insufficient, avoid extending it further than 1 cm to the right, to prevent collision with the extruder. Extending the plate left is recommended, though at a certain point this will compromise the printer's footprint.

For the Z axis cover, Prusa's standard is PETG, 0.2mm layer height, 20% grid infill (though gyroid is a good alternative). No special settings for the tag itself.

The modified Z cover is attached the same way as the original part. Some force may be required when sliding the new cover onto the linear rod. If there is significant resistance, remove the rod from the frame to get more leverage. The name tag will firmly snap into place. This clearance loosens over time, but it is important not to use excessive force when removing/inserting, as this risks compromising the integrity of the printed part around the screws. If the parts were extensively modified, check the extruder clearances after installation.
