Get ready for winter with this stunning lantern, designed to brighten up any space with a warm, festive glow. With a modular design, this lantern can be printed in a variety of colors, allowing you to create a unique look. Each part is designed to fit perfectly without the need for glue, making assembly easy and seamless.
Display it with LED candles or, for added safety, with real candles in a small glass holder within the lantern.
In the Files section, you’ll find PrusaSlicer project files, LR2187 Sides Print.3mf
and LR2187 Frame Print.3mf
, with parts pre-aligned and settings optimized. Use these projects as a starting point, or refer to the table below if you’d like to slice the models from scratch:
Nozzle Size: | Optimized for 0.4mm, larger nozzles will not work. |
Layer Height: | Optimized for 0.2mm |
Filament Materials: | PETG recommended (see warning) |
Perimeters: | Three perimeters |
Prusa Slicer Profile: | “0.20mm Quality” |
Printer Bed: | Satin recommended or rough. |
Filament Colours: | Prusament PETG Galaxy Black Prusament PETG Clear Prusament PETG Ultramarin |
Avoid using PLA if you plan to place real candles in the lantern, as PLA has a low melting point and can easily catch fire. PETG is safer, but place real candles inside a small glass holder to prevent heat from reaching the lantern frame. Ensure the outer temperature of the glass holder stays below 80ºC.
Begin by printing the frame components in a single color, like Prusament Galaxy Black, as shown in the photos:

The side panels are designed for multi-color printing, allowing you to add a touch of personalization. For the example in the photos:
Side Panels (6x LR2187-1):
Note: The design supports up to four colors, so feel free to experiment with your choice.
Layer | Suggested Color |

1 | Lightest color |
2 | Secondary color |
3 | Tertiary color |
4 | Additional accent |
5 | Opaque/Final color |
1. Start with the Base
Place the bottom frame (LR2187-3) on a flat surface. Insert the first side panel (LR2187-1) into its groove, ensuring a snug fit.
If the panel does not slide in the groove, use a fine sandpaper and remove material from the backside of the panel frame until it has a tight fit.
2. Add Side Panels Alternately
Next, continue with the second panel, but flip the orientation to align with the snowflake pattern.
3. Secure Panels with Clamps
Slide a clamp (LR2187-2) over each pair of adjacent panels, securing them in place.
Repeat until all panels are connected.
4. Attach the Top Frame
Carefully slide the top frame (LR2187-4) over the panels, ensuring they align with the grooves. Press gently or use a wooden block to apply even pressure if needed.
