This is a simple and light-weight rim design for moderate applications (laboratory & development).

It can be combined with all tires using a 200mm dovetail tire interface DT200.

Printing

To get a satisfying result please first carefully read the instructions below!

Infill

For the rim I recommend honeycomb pattern as this provides a very good stability. Additionally, the screw area, where the rim will be fixed to the axis should be solid 100% in order not to bend by the force of the screws. This is achieved by adding a second model within the rim which can get an individual infill:

  1. Load the the rim model into Prusa Slicer and set infill settings of the rim to 15% honeycomb (it is easier to set this not in the default print setting but directly in the model settings (see picture below).

  2. Add the solid infill model part (right click on the model → add part and selecting rim-250mm-solid-plate.stl). The solid infill should be located at 10mm height (which is 14mm in world coordinates). In case the solid plate falls down to the bed, it may be loaded individually not as part of the rim model!

Set infill settings of the solid plate to 100% infill. The resulting sliced model should then look like this:

Perimeters

For stability reasons, perimeters should be set enough to cover all the tooth area of the tire interface. This is 6 for the 0.3mm DRAFT settings:

Support

Support is needed only for the center area where the screws are mounted. You will have less work to clean the tire screw holes if you block support, here:
