Freedom 7 Coin Bank

Tidy up all that loose change on your desktop with this handy 'secret' bank! It makes for a beautiful display and lets you hide all your gold conveniently on your desktop!

Simply pop the tower section off, exposing the coin slot and drop your loose change into the bank!

I remixed hsvtrail's great model of the original bank and made a few upgrades.

• Split the Blank Heat shield and original bottom. You can use filament scraps for alignment. The bottom doesn't really need glue when snapped into the top.
• updated Retro Pack, Retro Pack straps and the BLANK heat shield to fit together better. The new Retro pack doesn't require support but DOES need infill.

• Added Tower components (requires gluing top cylinder to strut section)
• Added a tight fitting nose cap
• Added a snap on retro pack (requires gluing the straps to the pack)

• Made a simple display stand with the Project Mercury Logo cut into it. Fixed

• Improved the SAVE / HAVE text on the top to print cleanly
• Some of the rivets were not attached to the body and this caused some minor issues with working with the STL files (like using Netfab)

• Improved the inner chamber to make it a little easier to shake out coins if you use this as a bank (and decide to glue on the base.) Here is a link to the Fusion 360 file if you want to do some other modifications.

  You definitely want to print the heat shield and retro-pack with supports, the top doesn't need them.

  The Tower needs to have the base notches aligned with the holes on the nose cap. Once the tower is snapped on, the V struts will fit on, bottom holes first then the top notch into the tower base.

  You will notice in the center of the tower there is a cylindrical support that allows for the pointed cap to print properly. You can leave this in if you wish, I cut it out. It can be a little tricky to cut it out but if you've been doing this sort of modeling, you can manage it.

• This display model obviously is thematically inspired by the real thing but is designed to be more commemorative than scale accurate.

• Stay tuned, I may make some mods like a "Pilgrim" base and a 4" Airframe adapter for a model rocket. As a kids, we had one of these. Not sure what ever became of it. In my research I've found there were a few different iterations of it but I've not (yet) found a page chronicling the history. If you can find one, please leave a link in the comments.
