Print Settings

  • Material: PLA works but you may wish to print this in a stronger material like ABS / ASA / CF-Nylon
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 20-50%
    • There really isn't much infill in this model, but you want it to be strong

Take care when printing in something like ASA / ABS as this model has a large flat bottom layer that is very prone to warping

  • This may not affect the overall structural integrity, but it may make mounting some of the intended accessories a little more challenging depending on where the warp occurs

This design was made specifically for the 1982 KZ750 as that's the bike which all the measurements were taken from

Mounts using zip ties around the frame rails.

  • Don't knock it till you try it. It's surprisingly secure.

I don't know if this will work if you have an airbox. My reference bike has pod-filters on the carbs so this space was wide open.

As well, take care with placing electronics in this box which are susceptible to water damage.

  • This is not a water-tight setup, and if you are riding through a storm or washing your bike with a strong jet of water, you will get water in this box.
    • It will drain, but that's after it got in.

Edits:

  • 2025-04-05: Updated the model to make it easier to mount without breaking, updated hole sizes to account for threaded inserts, and added a hole near the back to allow for the Regulator Rectifier cables to enter from below without issue.
