This model is a redesign made to be mount on a large photographic lens. The lens is a Rodenstock Apo-Ronar 1070mm. Its diameter is 10.8cm.

A magnetic ring (green) is screwed to the metal ring of the lens. That way the shutter can be mount an unmounted fast and secure (There are magnets on both pieces). The 5 leafs (blue) open and close just behind the lens. I needed to filter the color temperature so I added a filter holder (yellow). Lastly, there are two barn doors (orangish) that allows the light not to flow every where in the camera but mostly on the paper.

EDIT (V3): Magnetic ring weren't a success. Not strong enough. I made 2 new pieces that forms the Snap Rings (blue + Green). Blue side is glued on the body bottom and has three male clips (and a naughty text). The green side is now magnets less and is profiled to snap fit the other part (see close up pic). This last part is bolted to the lens.

My print was made of PLA to easily glued some parts afterward. It was mostly black to avoid any colored reflections on the paper.

Supports are needed on:

  • Body top (pink) where the annular ring (cyan) takes place.
  • Body bottom (pink) for the screw holes
  • Barn doors hinges might be problematic. I don't have printed it yet. I update this later.

Warnings:

  • Body and top are really long to print and necessitate some brims not to warp on the bed.

This is all work in progress, I'll upload images as things goes on.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

My lens is 108mm diameter so I had to scale the whole model but unfortunately that was not really working well. I ended up redesigning many parts.

Changes are :

  • Scale to fit a 108mm lens (Rodenstock APO-RONAR 1070mm). Naturally fits every lens that is smaller too !
  • Holes for M4 screws and hexagonal shaped holes to embed all M4 heads.
  • Those holes are also enlarged so that the head don't overpass the top and so are invisible. added compactness.
  • Suppressed unnecessary spaces to make it printable on a Prusa MK4 without cut it (this was especially challenging).
  • Added an optional rotative filter holder (yellow). It is glued to an annular ring (cyan) which is magnetised to the body (pink). It is sized to hold 6in filters (Kodak Gelatines)
  • Added 2 Barn doors (orangish / that rotates with the filters). One a tad bit higher than the other to successfully fold them on top of each others.
  • Added a magnetic ring (Green) to secure the mount on the lens.
