My grandfather was always meticulous about his lawn.
My grandfather was known for being strong, dependable, honest and loyal. He was well known for arriving at least 30 minutes--more often an hour--early for any planned event. He was meticulous about keeping his house, woodshop, lawn and vehicles as immaculate as if they were all freshly new. As his granddaughter, I also remember his gentle strength, helping hands and quiet genius. I remember learning the jigsaw when I was 8. I remember punching his big, round stomach when he would ask and being met with a solid wall, a message early on that things aren’t always what they appeared to be. I remember testing out my powers of persuasion on him when I was little during The Great American Smokeout. I made my case for him to quit smoking, asked him to stop, and he did, cold turkey, on the spot.
I think were he alive, my grandfather would be very proud of the journey my daughter and I have taken in 3d printing and of everything we have learned over the past year. For father's day, to honor his memory, we made this grass photo stand. Its wildness would drive him crazy, but he would hug us and tell us we did a good job anyway.
We hope you enjoy it.
