This is an amalgamation of everything I wished were better about all of the fantastic box models on Printable.
This is what I came up with. Instead of remixing any of them, I taught myself Fusion 360 and spent months of trial and error trying to make a decent, scalable box with little to no hardware with my limited understanding of CAD software.
Inner dimensions are 45mm X 30mm x 7mm. I have larger sizes if folks are interested, just DM me.
Tolerances should be pretty dialed in with your printer, I use a lightly modded Ender 3 S1 with Creality Print Version V4.3.4.5553.
If you find any errors in any of the files, please message me and I will do my best to correct them.
Assembly is pretty straight forward, there is only one size of hole, and one size of pin. You need to print 6 pins total, and two latches. I suggest drilling out the latches to just a frog hair bigger than the pins using a pen vice and appropriate sized bit. Everything else should snap together tightly, and possibly needing some persuasion from a pair of channel locks or pliers with masking tape over the jaws so as not to damage the plastic. Be mindful to insert pin so that build plate side of pin is facing out, so as to not bore out the hole with any slight elephants foot on pin. Glue is not necessary, however if glue is needed, I suggest only using a tiny bit of cyanoacrylate glue on the end of the pin being mindful not to get any in latch or hinge.
Remix all you want. Scales very nicely. I find intellectual property rights, and private property in most forms, to be vile, gross things. Do what you want with this box. make em, sell em, just don't hurt anybody who doesn't deserve it, and don't do anything I wouldn't do and then name it after me.
