This adapter slips over a Yakima SpeedKnob tightening knob, adding a ¾" hex bolt that you can attach a wrench to for greater leverage. Tested and works perfectly on a Yakima RidgeBack hitch bike mount that was firmly stuck in my hitch and wouldn't budge. Will very likely work on any Yakima hitch-mounted bike rack that uses the triangular SpeedKnob tightening system.
Print Settings
The assembly in the pictures was printed at the following settings:
- Printer: Prusa MK3.5
- Print Settings
- 0.6mm nozzle
- 0.35mm layer height
- 30% gyroid infill + 5 perimeters
- Filament: Generic orange PETG
- Supports: none
- Brim: none
Print Instructions
- No supports are required
- Print the triangular cup with the opening facing upwards.
- Print the hex bolt facing upwards.
- I recommend at least 5 perimeters with a 0.6 nozzle (more with a 0.4 nozzle) as you'll be putting serious torque on this and don't want it to snap.
- I recommend using PETG as PLA is likely to shear off when you start twisting.
Assembly Instructions
- To assemble this accessory, simply drop the hex bolt into the hole in the triangular housing.
- Unlock your Yakima SpeedKnob using your key - it should not spin freely.
- Place the tool over your SpeedKnob, attach a ¾" hex socket to it, and use a breaker bar or wrench for enhanced leverage.
- PUT ON SAFETY GLASSES AND GO SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY!
- Enjoy being able to easily remove your stuck bike rack from your car!
