Note-Taking Set

Heavily inspired by the Grovemade note-taking kit and the Ugmonk Analog kit. This model uses 3inch x 5inch note cards.

Overview

This model is a compilation of other models found on Printables that I've either modified or directly uploaded from other creators. Under the files section, you can find a link to the original page for each model I've used. I wanted to consolidate them and put together a note-taking system similar to Grovemade's note-taking kit and Ungmonk's Analog kit.

Update: I've been using this for a few months now and have loved it. I've mostly just used the “Organizer - 5 Tier Portrait” model with my tray. It's great for quick notes that usually just live on my desk for a few minutes/hours, and if i need to come back to something later, I just put it in the organizer. Feel free to leave any feedback!!

Main Features

This note-taking “system” is based on 3 main parts:

  • Rail – displays notes for immediate access
  • Tray – holds blank note cards
  • Organizer – stores old notes, preferably with categories

I've also included:

  • A few templates allowing you to make lists and basic calendars
  • Portable note-taking options

Background

I recently found Salim Benbouziyane, a maker on YouTube. He doesn't have many videos up yet, but their quality is extremely good. In his videos, he uses Grovemade's note-taking kit, which caught my eye as a very aesthetically pleasing set that seems easy to manage.

When I saw the kit was ~$300, I immediately started brainstorming ideas for how to 3d print something like this. The most accessible and convenient solution I found was 3x5 note cards (somewhere between A6 and A7 paper). I also ended up reading about Hipster PDA's, which is a very similar concept.

I'm constantly writing things down and have used sticky notes, planners, whiteboards, computer programs, smartphones, etc., but I've always had difficulty organizing those notes, especially for things that I know I won't be able to work on right away.

This system makes it very easy to move a note from short-term to long-term storage, I can create a new note at any time without having to flip a page or open a new document, and I'm able to clearly display important notes when I need them.

Printing

There shouldn't be anything too complicated here. 0.2 layer height, ~10-20% infill with 3 perimeters should be fine. I prefer PLA, but other materials will also definitely work.

In the “Files” tab, you should see links to the original postings of the models I didn't make, so if you're having printing troubles, check there or leave a comment and I'll try to help out.

Extras

If you want to step up the class a little bit,  I found a few options for “fancier” note cards. My goal is to keep this as cheap/accessible as possible, but if you want to spend a little more, these are some good options I found:

Future

I want to hear your suggestions! I also would love to see your makes and remixes. Please consider sharing if you print this. If you didn't know, Printables has a point system where you can earn free rolls of filament by posting makes, so start doing it!

Things I could add:

  • More sizes of paper
  • Gridfinity support. Quite a few of the models I linked as remixes are already gridfinity, so this should be easy
