This clips directly to the front of a Genie garage door sensor. Mine is from a Genie Excelerator circa 2001. No idea if they've changed the sensors. You can see in the photos my previous solution of using a toilet paper roll, painted black on the inside. That worked for the last 8 years, but the tape kept falling off so it was time to upgrade now that I can 3D print.
Just slide the shield into the clip and it should sit flush. Then clip onto the front of the sensor. You should be able to twist the shield in-place to adjust the angle, if needed. The shield is open on one side to help prevent the sunlight from reflecting off the printed material.
