I found that some door mods rely on a not so dependable magnet strength to stay in a locked position. Small magnet meets 3 mm bolt head in 2 places. and this bond is expected to overcome the expansion of the weather tape applied for the entire perimeter of the door. Besides over time magnet will weaken even more. Don't see that working too well. I made a modification to an Annex panel latch design – that i really liked, and it appears to serve the purpose quite well.

Print this part instead of original “Body”, and don't print original “Base”
Assembly stack of the original design, see original Annex design.

Remix retains all good qualities of the original Annex Engineering design, and it's assembly stack. Contrary to some other latch designs is not over engineered, and does not require the door to be “framed”

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • can be used as a door latch
  • can be used for a thicker (5mm) door
  • mounted to a round-the-corner extrusion (useful when door entirely covers extrusion face)
  • fuses the base and the body in a single part, easily printable, no supports
