A Y splitter that is melded to the MMU3 front plate, which allows for direct filament use (disabling the MMU3 in the Prusa menus) OR using the MMU3 for multi-material.
I created this because, factoring in the material storage, buffers, and loading process for filament into the MMU3, sometimes if I just want to do a single color print, it's easier to just have the filament go direct to the hot end, bypassing the MMU3.
This is especially convenient not just for using a spool quickly, but also when I want to print directly from my filament dryer, which is attached to the outside of my enclosure and has a PTFE tube running to the inside.
To make this happen, I added a Y splitter between the output of the MMU3 and the hot end. However, there is nothing to keep it in place, and the weight of it makes it flop around everywhere. So I made a modification to the MMU3 selector front plate that will keep the Y splitter in place.
When I want to use the direct path (for a single color, simple print, or exotic material that either can't go through the MMU3 or I need to run from the dryer), I just disable the MMU3 in the Prusa settings. When I want to use the MMU3, I enable it again in the menu. But I don't need to detach PTFE tubes.
This model requires PC4-M10 PTFE fittings for the Y splitter, and will require you to install the brass insert from the original MMU3 selector front plate into this one, and use the PC4-M6 PFTE fitting that screws into the original MMU3 selector front plate.
You will have to cut the PTFE tube between the M6 and M10 fitting to length. Note, you're best off inserting the PTFE tube into the M10 fitting before the M6, especially for more rigid PTFE tubing.
The author remixed this model.
Attached the Y splitter to the MMU3 selector front plate.
