A strong spring clamp I am using outdoors. I went down the track of 3D Printing a clamp because I could not buy a clamp what was wide enough without it being a huge orange thing. This has been outside in summer in 30C temps for a few months with no problems.

Fusion 360 files are included so you can modify to suit your needs.

Parts

  • 1 x Torsion Spring
  • 2 x M3 35mm bolts
  • 2 x M3 nylock nuts
  • 1 x M4 40mm bolt
  • 2 x M4 washer
  • 1 x M4 nylock nut

Torsion Spring specs
  • 90 Deg
  • 3 laps 7.5mm
  • Wire 2.5mm
  • Outer wire diameter 14mm

Print

  • PETG
  • Infill 60%
  • Gyroid infill pattern

I found it needs to be a strong print or the torsion spring will break the print.

I tried ASA which is supposed to have better UV protection but it was not strong enough.

Assembly

  • Bolt the two clamp halves and the Torrision Sping with the M4 bolt
  • Attach the Jaws using the M3 bolts
  • Don't overtighten the bolts.

UV Protection

Spray with a clear UV spray can
