This is a full-size 390mm x 390mm / 15.5" x 15.5" Chess Board (or Draughts / Checkers) with separate customisable tiles, all of which can be assembled without glue. It was designed in OnShape CAD and printed with Orca Slicer.

The board is in quarters, which snap tightly together, and the tiles snap in to place. You'll need at least a 220mm x 220mm bed to print at 100%.

As the tolerances are pretty tight, there is also a Board - Test model to see if you need to make some adjustments.

For the board, I used a Wood PLA but you can use anything - I gave it a 3/3/3 Wall/Top/Bottom with 15% infill at 0.2mm height. For the tiles I used a Matte Black PLA and SIlk Antique Gold PLA, using a Concentric top layer for the visual effect. Again you can use whatever you like here - I did 2/4/3 walls/top/bottom and 10% infill at 0.16mm height (the 4 top layers helps the look of the top surface).

First print the Test model to see how tight everything this - as this will depend on your printer and the filament you use. If the parts are just too tight try using X-Y Compensation on the Board to thin them, in -0.05mm steps. If the tiles are too tight try using the same method on the Tiles. Once you have the right tolerances print the full board.

Print 4 of the Board - Quarter models and 2 x 32 of the Tiles.

If you want to print it smaller, then also use the Test model at the new size - you most likely will need to use some X-Y compensation here, as you want to shrink the board and tiles but not the gaps between them.

The Chess Pieces shown in the images can be found here: The Sentinel Chess Set.

Do let me know how you get on!
