Turns your allen keys into hex bits, so they can be used with screwdrivers and other tools.

There was a very similar design already: Allen key to hex bit adapter, but it was missing some sizes I wanted to use. I also added a small inlay which slides in and is glued above the key. The idea here was to prevent the key from being pushed out when you apply pressure to it, and to give it a bit more strength.

After experimenting a bit using a fillet where the key bends, I realized that just allows the key to tilt slightly. So no fillet.

I found that by making the hole .1mm larger than the key itself, the bit hugs the key quite snuggly, but still allows it to be inserted. This held true for all sizes except 1.5mm, So I've included a version with .2mm clearance for that size.

Some keys seem to be bent on one of the edges rather than one of the flat faces, so I have included versions where the hole is slightly rotated to accommodate for this.

I've printed mine using a 0.2mm nozzle, at 100% infill. (Gonna try 0.4 once a replacement nozzle arrives next week, if I need to adjust the clearances I will.)

Fits keys of the following sizes:

  • 1.5mm
  • 2mm
  • 2.5mm
  • 3mm
  • 4mm

In a future version I'd like to add a piece of metal on the bottom, so they can be attached magnetically. Didn't have anything suitable at home, I also couldn't figure out what would make sense to order. Ideas are welcome!
