A colleague needed to arrange the LEDs around the 1L reaction vessel for the cultivation of phototrophic microorganisms. This model(s) were made to use an 8 mm LED strip and has an additional slot for its power connector. The main challenges were to:

  • provide small gaps between the surface of the cultivation vessel and the LEDs
  • keep the power connector inclined and aligned with the twist of the LED strip in this socket to prevent any damage to it.
  • keep equal spacing between LED strip turns

The cut-out from the bottom was made intentionally to have a visual confirmation of gas flow from the sparger.

These models were designed in Solidworks 2021 as part of work at Wageningen University and Research.
