I created this to solve things that frustrated me with existing holder designs. The box type take up too much whiteboard space, the trays are frustrating to use and have scratched folks more than once, not to mention bumping them creates pure chaos.

These attach to the top of your glass white board, or any surface of similar width, I imagine the glass on cubical dividers also works great for them but have not tried it yet.

They mount to the top and use gravity and a bit of tension to stay in place. The markers are held cap down to keep the tips healthy, and you can easily pick the marker you want.

The only issue I have had so far, is over time the tension fades. I imagine that modifying the shape to be thicker at the top of the arch would fix this, but I have not been motivated to do this yet, meaning it works well enough… I guess.   :)

This was one of my first scratch build projects, using a caliper and graph paper, it was a ton of fun and resulted in a something I truly love using that has improved my office whiteboard experience significantly.

I went with a non-commercial license vs. fully open.

EDIT
I almost forgot, the best way I have found to print these is with the socket face down. This removes the need for supports on my mk4, and has a nice side benefit. The back-catch which hangs behind the white-board is printed at a 45 degree angle, this gives it little ridges that help it grip. :)

Update:
I finally found time to re-make this shape. Rather than re-working what I had, I started fresh. Rebuilt the socket end that holds the markers to be a little bit better, and updated the shape and fit of the overall shape to remove the top-arch weakness some saw.

The new shape is uploaded, it does require more force to push these into the white board, but once on they won't move or come loose. Gen 2 is a marked improvement in design.
