WIP not fully tested I’ve printed and tested about 10 different versions of this and am putting out this version to hopefully get some feedback on if it’s good to go so if you want a fully tested and ready to rock design this is not it…..yet.

Update 5/12/24: I have test printed all parts including lid they all seem to fit together well, I still need to put in some heat set inserts and test in the rails but holes all appear to line up lid fits good bumper and float plate line up and interface great.

Controller enclosure for vesc pint builds deeper and overall bigger than stock pint and pint x box, you decide what to do with the extra space, it uses a modified vow bumper and printable float plates Included in the files below.

There is also a 3mm lid file without countersinks you can send to scs and have laser cut and use to lid mount various vesc controllers, for now it’s just the blank lid I’ll add holes for the various controllers later, also a gasket to print out of TPU or laser cut foam etc. It uses standard pint size led pcb‘s and a 3mm led window like the ones available at avaspark but you will have to cut it down. I will include a file for the correct size led window you can have scs laser cut out of clear g10, delrin or petg.

the footpad connector is designed for the Xr switchcraft connector.

Hardware:

 lid: m3 heat set inserts m3 x 5mm screws

box to rails: m4 heat sets for box oem screws will work herel

float plate: m4 heat sets at rear bottom of box m4 x ? Screws, I belive the oem m4 screws will work for this attachment point however they may need to be a little longer, same goes with the bumper/float plate up to foot pad the oem long m4 should make it but may be a tad short, I’ll update this list once all is definitive.

thanks for looking and appreciate the feedback and help!

edit 5/8/24 added a step file of the proprietary motor connector use this thingiverse link for the stl version and instructions on its assembly.

edit 5/10/24 came to my attention i uploaded the wrong front bumper file I had modified the angles at the rear to fit my x1c bed and the version I uploaded did not have that mod for whatever reason, the old bumper file will still work fine if it fits on your printer and float plates line up fine with both, so if you downloaded and printed the old one no need to reprint this one.

edit 5/12/24 Added the pint size light lens file, as explained you can upload this file to scs and have it laser cut out of a clear plastic of some sort you can also print it out of transparent petg however I have never been able to get that very clear myself. You can also just cut down the readily available 3mm led windows to 131.5mm it will cover the opening just fine. The attached file I made a little taller 20mm to be exact. If you are going the scs laser cut route have it and the lid made at the same time as scs has a 30$ minimum so might as well do them both to meet that minimum.

Edit 7/4/24: so I've had some time to play around with this a bit more and while most of the parts do work well together I ran into some issues with footpads and the lid and the bumper alignment, in particular halo pads or pads that have a protrusion on the bottom, those will need to be cut off so the footpad is flat on the bottom shouldn't be an issue with kush style pads though. Also may be some issues with fender and mud guard compatibility. I also stumbled across some Kevlar reinforced nylon that will be a perfect candidate for the printed float plates as it is claimed to be extremely abrasion resistant. For the time being I am putting this project on hold and changing direction a bit, with the release of the free ride bumpers I am working on a design that has considerably less space unfortunately but will jive with the free ride bumpers, my intention is to still have a 3mm easy access lid design so pads like the halos will still need to be cut flat but other than that most other stock parts “should” work with it. It will still be able to accommodate most lid mounted controllers and a lighting controller definitely no cells up front though. Keep an eye out for that version in the coming weeks, if that's something you would be interested in.
