This 3D printed stained glass foiler simplifies the application of copper foil tape. It draws inspiration from this Printables model and features a streamlined design with minimal hardware. The model includes 3D printed screw threads and a press-fit guide wheel for easy assembly and precise foiling.

Notes:

  • Secure guide wheel assembly: Guide wheels feature a press-fit design for a sturdy connection. Apply firm pressure during assembly to ensure they stay in place.
  • Interchangeable wheels: Easily swap guide wheels with different sizes by screwing them onto the main body, ensuring compatibility with various tape widths.
  • Optional tape spacer: Utilize the included "spacer" to prevent wobbling and tangling of thinner copper tape rolls.
  • Tape width variety: Choose from multiple print plates with different wheel sizes to perfectly match your preferred tape widths (e.g., 5mm).
  • Workbench adaptable: An optional variant features a built-in flap that loosely clamps to workbenches with a 16-17mm thickness for better portability and to avoid using any hardware entirely.

Changelog:

  • 3 Jan 2025
    • Uploaded the wrong model for the guide wheel. Oops!
  • 2 Jan 2025
    • HNY!
    • Wheel guides now screw counter-clockwise so they don't come off when pulling down.
    • Wheels are thicker so it's possible to use a 3/8" foil tape. However, you'll probably need 2 spacers now.
  • 7 May 2024
    • Wheel guide is 25% shorter. The copper tape has to travel under the entire guide, and the previous length felt too long.
    • Wheel guide has now tolerance for the copper tape width. It was too precise and tight before.
  • 23 June 2024
    • Spacer wheel is wider. This solves the problem when sometimes the tape could get caught on the large wheel.
