25 cm x 4.3 cm
A standing display of the Minecraft logo, for all your whimsical desk fancification needs.
Project guidelines:
With a partner, you will design a “2D” placard using Solidworks. You and your partner will have the same design which meets the constraints below, and you will EACH use Solidworks to create your design.
Design choices & changes:
Initially, the face of the base plate was going to be flat, without any protrusions to create the angled bottoms of the letters, but I felt it would not be in the spirit of the logo. My partner Aspen chose to forgo the bottom altogether and simply removed the offending area from their model, but I had the most wondrous epiphany for a solution: recessing the face and creating sloping areas to mimic the 3D bottoms of the letters. This let me keep the impression of the letters being 3D without making too many major changes.
The stand also proved to be a strange and foul beast, which I had to fistfight to cut out the part I wanted.
Assembly:
Lay out your letters and baseplate, making sure your letters are oriented the correct way. You may need to sand or carve down the elephant's footing for an easier fit.
Take the M and place it in the M slot.
Take the I and place it in the I slot. Be sure it is rotated in the correct orientation, as it will not fit if it is upside down.
Take the N and place it in the N slot.
Take the E and place it in the E slot.
Take the C and place it in the C slot.
Take the R and place it in the R slot.
Take the A and place it in the A slot.
Take the F and place it in the F slot.
Take the T and place it in the T slot.
Now, take it back now y’all. You’re finished.
