Have you ever experienced the frustration of a loose socket ring on your light fixture? I certainly have. After encountering this issue in my bathroom, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.
The Challenge:
My light fixture's socket ring was loose, and when I attempted to tighten it, disaster struck – the ring shattered, leaving me holding the glass shade. Fortunately, no harm was done, but it was clear that a solution was needed.
The Solution:
After several iterations and attempts to identify the correct thread pitch, I decided to design a tool and fastener to address the problem. Initially considering a ring socket version, I ultimately opted for a nut design. With the dimensions of the nut finalized, I then created a long socket to allow for easy hand tightening onto the fixture.

Customization:
For those looking to tailor the solution to their specific needs, I've included the openSCAD file for easy customization. You must have BOSL2 installed on your computer for this file to work.
With this tool and fastener combination, you can say goodbye to loose socket rings and confidently secure your light fixtures for good.
