Update V1.1

  • Model Changes
    • Small mistake fixes .
    • Accuracy to source changes , Added details to some parts, see pictures.
    • Missile pod Changes
      • Mounting pins changed to bigger ones and reduced from 6 to 4 per pod + reduced back pins from 3 to 2 .
      • Added small details and handles .
    • Some parts had been combined , reducing part count by 11 parts and 12 pins .
    • Changes In Extras
      •  Missile model now has correct colors . It is now split so the upper half can be used as bursting out missile or fired missile.
  • Organization Changes
    • Replaced Printing recommendations with 3MFs including Multi Color versions.
      • Note :I don't have a multi colored printer so I'm not sure how good the Multi Color 3MFs are.
    • Print plates have been combined.
    • The “Stowed” version moved to remixes section, now all the needed parts for this version will be there.
    • Files renamed for easier navigation , More on it below.
  • This version replaces 1.0V . 1.0V still available for download as zip file .
  • For now instructions are not changed , the assembly process is more or less the same .

V1.1 File Naming.

  • [MC,SC]_part1_&_part_2….. --Color1_Color2.3mf
    • MC - Multi Color , for multi color printers,
    • SC - Single Color , for single color printer or manual color swap
    • ….--Color1_Color2_swap - colors used in this plate. "swap" is a manual color swap between mentioned colors. if no color mentioned it is default beige (or any default you would like to use).

V1.1 Read Before Printing

Plan ahead to reduce waste and time !

  • Missile pods
    • There are 2 versions of missile pod , one of them doesn't have connection holes on top for a clean look , this one should be printed once and mounted on top .
    • There is a option to mount 1-4 pods.
    • “Battery _Holder” and “Color_For_Caps” files contain enough parts for one pod , multiply them according number of pods planned to be printed .
    • “Missile launch” and “Missile breaking out” extras take spaces in the pod instead of battery holders so less battery holders should be printed.
      • Missile launch -  3 spaces
      • Missile breaking out - 1 space
  • Incline Version
    • Two versions are 60 degrees which is default (See pictures) and 40 degrees . The parts responsible for incline had been separated into separate plates. Combine the version you want with any printing plate.

I tried to make it more approachable but It is still a demanding project

General Information

  • It is 246 mm long 127 mm wide and 272 mm high (without add-ons) in open position.
  • It has 199 components for the body and 39 components for the extras. Most of components a are pins and repeated components.
  • It uses 1mm thick paperclip wire for the joints, but any 1mm thick wire will do.
  • All components (painstakingly) adjusted for 0.4 nozzle 0.2 layer high, but some components print better at different layer heights. All is explained in a print guide.
  • No multi material printer needed , except the printed wire antenna. All parts are color separated. Some parts require color swap mid print. There is a multi material version of the components.
  • All components connect to each other , most should be glued.  There are about 0.05 - 0.1 mm tolerance between components. Depends on the printer, some parts may feel too tight or too loose , some filing may be required . All components been tested to fit together.
  • Provided detailed Printing Recommendations and Building Instructions
  • All folders are numbered and correspond with Printing Recommendations numbering. Folders which is marked with E## are extras.
  • PLA+ or PETG is better for joints and stress bearing parts , I found that those components tend to brake when printed with PLA.

Functionality and Features

  • Its mainly AAA battery holder. It holds up to 20 batteries and has small storage area in detachable electronics box.
  • Up to 4 missile pods can be attached.
  • Missile pods can be replaced (if not glued ) battery pods can be replaced for screwdriver or brush holding pods , see Mods and Extras .

Mods And Extras

  • It can be assembled in 2 configurations. Stowed Version, and Open Version. (see images)
  • 3 Versions of the antenna :
    • Printed wire antenna
    • Dupont wire antenna - adjusted to add dupont wire for more realistic look
    • Retracted antenna - for stowed version.
  • 3 versions of the Missile pod - batteries , brushes and small screwdrivers + i added step file for making every version you like. The pod have ample of space for implementing interesting designs. I haven't tested other pods yet.
  • 2 feet versions - extended and retracted for stowed version . The feet are interchangeable.
  • Caps and Battery Pullers ( in front of the missile pod) versions.
    •  “Missile Breaking Out” cap version - can replace one of the missile slots with missile half breaking out , it can hold a battery too .
    • "Missile Launch" takes 3 cap slots , it can hold batteries
  • 2 Incline versions - the default incline of the missile pod is 60 degrees. 40 degrees version is included + added step file with a jig that simulates connection points so custom incline points can be created.

Personal Notes

This is my first big cad project , i was working on it for the past couple of mounts .

A lot of thought went into this, functionality , accuracy to the source , printability, strength and user friendliness.

I know i know, there are A LOT of components, it can be overwhelming at first but most of them are repeated small components and pins, plus everything is shown and explained step by step in the assembly guide.

Why so many ? I wanted to insure it printed the best way it can, with minimal supports (and support scarring) , no visible connection gaps between components and make it color accurate without MMU, unfortunately i couldn't do it for the antenna .

I sorted the stl's by component group ,color and method of printing (all same color or color swap) and printing parameters , this made more sense to me. This is the reason why some stls have one small component per build plate. You can easily batch them differently, all Build plates can be separated to objects.
